Russia claims seizer of additional settlement in Eastern Ukraine
(MENAFN) Russian authorities reported on Wednesday that their forces have taken control of another settlement in Ukraine’s eastern Zaporizhzhia region.
According to statements from the Russian Defense Ministry, the settlement of Zarechne was seized following operations conducted by the Vostok (East) group of forces. In response, the ministry claimed that Ukrainian forces launched a large-scale drone strike, asserting that 335 drones were intercepted overnight, along with two HIMARS missiles and nine guided aerial bombs.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Kyiv deployed five of its new Flamingo missiles against Russian targets, with four successfully hitting their objectives while one was intercepted. Russian authorities confirmed that an industrial facility in the Tula region sustained damage.
Independent verification of these claims remains difficult due to the ongoing nature of the conflict, making it challenging to confirm the full scope of events on either side.
