China Southern To Double Flights To Brisbane

Dhaka: China Southern Airlines will increase its Brisbane-Guangzhou service to twice daily year-round from 30 March 2026, adding more than 114,000 seats annually on the fuel-efficient Airbus A350.

The airline, the first Chinese carrier to fly to Queensland, brings more Chinese visitors to the state than any other airline.

A codeshare agreement with Virgin Australia will expand access across Queensland, while connections via Guangzhou link passengers to China, Asia, eight European cities, and five North American destinations.

Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff said the increased frequency“will supercharge Brisbane's connectivity and give travellers greater choice and flexibility.” Queensland Tourism Minister Andrew Powell said the expansion will boost visitor numbers and support local businesses.

China Southern ANZ Regional GM Jason Sun said the doubled service reflects growing demand for business, tourism, cultural exchange, and family travel, strengthening economic and cultural ties between Queensland and China.

Brisbane Airport now connects to 35 international destinations, with summer travel expected to rise 9pc on last year.

The airport is investing $5 billion in its precinct over the next five years under the Future BNE plan.
