I recently (2023) published a Flora of New Zealand treatment of Veronica (141 species; 528 pages). Mostly my research interests now are natural history of flower biology and pollination, including close-up and uv photography. I'm currently researching flower biology of hutu (Ascarina lucida) and completing a book on the natural history of New Zealand flowers. My published research spans the taxonomy, nomenclature, evolution, phylogenetics, life cycle evolution and reproductive biology of plants.
I have a long-term interest in improving scientific rigour of taxonomy, both in how we recognise and characterise species and how we decide the boundaries of genera and higher ranks.
