Orban Applauds US Recognition of Europe’s Decline
(MENAFN) Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has stated that US President Donald Trump recognizes that Europe is facing a period of decline.
The recently released US National Security Strategy (NSS) criticizes the European Union’s political and cultural trajectory, highlighting concerns of “civilizational erasure.”
It also accuses European institutions of excessive regulation, destabilizing migration policies, and suppressing political dissent.
The strategy encourages “patriotic European parties” to safeguard democratic liberties and promote “unapologetic celebrations” of national identity.
“America has a precise understanding of Europe’s decline. They see the civilizational-scale decline that we in Hungary have been fighting against for fifteen years,” Orban shared on X on Thursday.
Orban, who has held the office of prime minister since 2010, has frequently argued that the EU is grappling with economic stagnation and pressures from migration.
He presents Hungary’s approach of national sovereignty, strict border management, and conservative social policies as a solution to what he perceives as Europe’s systemic crisis.
He has also expressed criticism over the EU’s handling of the conflict in Ukraine, suggesting that cutting off communication with Moscow was a mistake.
Orban noted that the US now acknowledges the importance of restoring strategic ties with Russia.
He has called on Western nations to prioritize diplomacy with the Kremlin rather than continuing to “burn” money on the war, reflecting Trump’s advocacy for a negotiated resolution.
