Turkey’s FM denounces ISIS attack on Syrian, US forces


(MENAFN) On Sunday, Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry condemned a terror attack carried out by an ISIS (Daesh) militant in Syria targeting Syrian and US forces. The ministry stated, “We condemn the terrorist attack carried out on Dec. 13 against Syrian and US forces performing patrol duties near Palmyra,” emphasizing Türkiye’s stance against terrorism.

Türkiye extended condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the governments of Syria and the United States, who are partners in the international coalition fighting ISIS.

The ministry reaffirmed that Türkiye will continue supporting Syria in its efforts to strengthen stability, enhance security, and combat terrorism.

According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the attack resulted in the deaths of two US troops and one civilian, while three other service members were injured in the ambush by the ISIS gunman.
