Israel conducts military operation in Syria's Quneitra

(MENAFN) On Saturday, Israeli troops conducted a raid in the village of Sidat al-Hanout in Quneitra, southwestern Syria. According to Syrian state media, the operation involved six military vehicles, searches of four homes, and the establishment of four checkpoints. No information was immediately available on arrests or casualties.

Separately, two young men were briefly detained at a checkpoint between Umm Batna and Al-Ajraf on Friday and later released.

A UN fact-finding committee arrived in Quneitra on Saturday to document alleged violations by Israeli forces against civilians and property.

Syrian authorities say these raids undermine stability and economic recovery efforts, citing over 1,000 airstrikes and 400 cross-border raids by Israel in southern Syria since December 2024.

After the fall of the Assad regime in late 2024, Israel reportedly expanded its occupation of the Golan Heights, violating the 1974 demilitarized zone agreement.
