Türkiye Condemns ISIS Attack on Syrian, US Forces

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry on Sunday denounced a terrorist assault by an ISIS (Daesh) operative in Syria, which targeted both Syrian and US military personnel.

In an official declaration, the ministry stated, “We condemn the terrorist attack carried out on Dec. 13 against Syrian and US forces performing patrol duties near Palmyra.”

Türkiye expressed sympathy to the families of the victims, as well as to the governments of Syria and the United States, which are allied in the global coalition against ISIS.

The ministry further emphasized that Türkiye will continue backing the Syrian administration’s initiatives to enhance stability and security in the nation and to combat terrorism.

According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the attack resulted in the deaths of two US soldiers and one civilian, while three additional service members sustained injuries during the ambush by the ISIS gunman.
