Diplomats Resume Ceasefire Talks on Ukraine in Berlin

(MENAFN) Foreign policy advisors from the United States, Ukraine, Germany, and other nations are scheduled to continue discussions in Berlin on Sunday regarding a potential ceasefire in Ukraine, according to government sources cited by a news agency on Saturday.

The United States previously announced that special envoy Steve Witkoff would be traveling to Berlin, though the exact location and timing of Sunday’s meetings have been kept confidential.

Details about the Ukrainian delegation for the upcoming talks remain uncertain.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is also expected to arrive in Berlin on Monday.

German government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius confirmed on Friday that Chancellor Friedrich Merz would first meet Zelenskyy for German-Ukrainian economic discussions.

Following that, European heads of government will convene with Zelenskyy at the chancellery, invited by Merz, with EU and NATO representatives also attending.

As of Saturday, it was still unclear whether US representatives would participate in Monday evening’s discussions at the chancellery.

Recently, Witkoff and Jared Kushner, US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, spent several days in Florida meeting with Ukrainian officials.

Ukraine was represented in these discussions by former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Chief of Staff Andrii Hnatow.

Prior to the Florida meetings, Witkoff and Kushner held extended talks in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
