Heavy rain and significant snowfall are expected across the upper mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from December 13 to 15, raising concerns over landslides, slippery roads, and increased travel difficulties.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a province-wide alert, directing all relevant departments to take precautionary measures in advance.

According to PDMA, rain and snowfall are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Galiyat, Haripur, Buner, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, and North and South Waziristan. In upper regions including Naran, Kaghan, Kalam, and Jabba, snowfall may cause ice to accumulate on roads, creating dangerous driving conditions.

Light rain has been forecast for Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, and Swabi. The authority has warned that heavy rain or snowfall may trigger landslides in vulnerable areas.

PDMA has advised citizens that dense fog may disrupt traffic on motorways and highways, urging commuters to travel with extreme caution. Fog is also expected to reduce visibility across plain districts.

Furthermore, relevant departments have been instructed to ensure drainage systems remain functional, while residents living near rivers and seasonal streams have been advised to stay alert. Tourists and travellers have been requested to avoid unnecessary movement during the forecasted weather spell.
