CM Afridi Condemns Treatment Of PTI's Founder And His Spouse, Announces Subcommittee For NFC Rights
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, during a provincial cabinet meeting, addressed key governance and political issues, strongly condemning what he described as the unjust treatment of PTI founder and his wife Bushra Bibi during their imprisonment and prolonged isolation. He said the use of water cannons on founder's sisters and the humiliation they faced was a shameful act.
The Chief Minister announced the formation of a subcommittee to safeguard the province's rights in the National Finance Commission (NFC) meeting.
The subcommittee will be headed by the provincial finance adviser and tasked with preparing recommendations on outstanding dues to be presented to the federal government.

Referring to the federal promise of Rs100 billion annually for the merged districts, Afridi said that over the past seven years only Rs168 billion had been released, leaving a shortfall of Rs532 billion. He instructed all departments to send weekly reminders to the federal government to pursue the pending amount.
He also confirmed that the newly appointed secretaries were selected purely on merit and emphasized that meritocracy would be strictly upheld. He warned that any corruption would lead to immediate legal action.
The Chief Minister directed all departments to submit their proposals for the 2026–27 Annual Development Programme (ADP) by mid-February, stressing that public-interest projects must be prioritized to ensure development initiatives directly benefit citizens.
