In the jurisdiction of Haved Police Station in Bannu, terrorists launched a heavy attack on the Sheikh Landaki police checkpost late last night, using both light and heavy weapons. Police personnel responded with full force, successfully thwarting the assault.

According to police, the retaliatory firing inflicted significant human and material losses on the attackers, with reports of multiple terrorists killed and injured. The exchange of fire continued for nearly three hours, during which five police personnel, Rehmanullah, Muhammad Khalid, Officer Ali, Nasir and Dost Muhammad, sustained minor injuries and were immediately shifted to the hospital.

Following directives from DIG Bannu Sajjad Khan, additional contingents led by DPO Bannu Yasir Afridi, including APC, QRF and RRF units, reached the site, cordoned off the area and launched an operation. During the encounter, the local peace committee, tribal elders and residents also took up arms and stood alongside the police, playing a crucial role in repelling the attack.

The DIG and DPO commended the bravery of both the police and the community, stating that Bannu Police is the first line of defence against terrorism and that the cooperation between police and citizens ensures that enemies will never succeed in their malicious objectives.

DPO Yasir Afridi later visited the hospital to inquire about the injured personnel and review medical facilities. He said the police had once again proven that despite limited resources, they stand as a strong shield against terrorist attacks.

It is worth noting that terrorists carried out more than a dozen different types of assaults on the checkpost, including quadcopter drone attacks, an attempt to ram an explosives-laden Zaranj rickshaw, and firing from multiple directions. However, the police successfully countered each attack and prevented any major damage.
