Strategic Part Of Afghanistan's Ring Road Completed: Mopw

KABUL (Pajhwok): The remaining part of the 52-kilometer Armalk-Laman road, an important and strategic part of Afghanistan's Ring Road, has been completed at a cost of $3.8 million, the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) said on Friday.

MoPW spokesman Mohammad Ashraf Haqshanas wrote on his X-Page that the Armalk-Laman road starts from Karkh district of Herat province and reaches Laman area of Badghis province.

He added that the Armalk-Laman road project's initial contract was given to a construction company against $65 million, and the work of two sections, 41 kilometers, was completed at a cost of $60.8 million.

He wrote that the remaining 11 kilometers portion was completed at a cost of $3.8 million after the Islamic Emirate surged to power.

Haqshanas said that the project included shoulders, roadside ditches, guardrails, underpasses, retaining walls, 65 culverts, and three major bridges.

According to him, an important and vital part of the Afghan Ring Road has been completed.

He also said that the road plays an important role in facilitating travel, reducing transportation costs and travel time, strengthening local trade, improving service delivery, and creating facilities for the residents of Herat, Badghis, and Faryab.
