Tonnes Of Substandard Rebar Returned To Iran

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan National Standards and Quality Authority says 74 tonnes of substandard steel bar imported from Iran was denied entry at the Shaikh Abu Nasr Farahi port.

In a statement, the ANSQA wrote that the shipment, weighing 74 tonnes, did not meet national standards and was sent back to Iran after thorough inspection and quality control.

It said that the process of verifying and controlling the quality of construction materials at the country's ports is being carried out strictly and transparently, preventing substandard goods from entering Afghan markets.

ANSQA spokesman Qari Mohammad Yousuf Ghavir said:“We call on all traders not to import low-quality goods into the country; otherwise, they will face legal action. Preventing the entry of substandard goods is our core duty, and we will not allow anyone to endanger the health, safety, or economy of our citizens.”

The authority remains committed to protecting consumers, supporting economic growth, and stopping the import of low-quality materials, the statement added.
