DHS uses Christmas-themed memes to promote mass-deportation strategy

(MENAFN) According to reports, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has circulated holiday-themed memes to publicize its mass-deportation efforts, combining Christmas imagery with messages about immigration enforcement. The initiative, launched ahead of the holiday season, aims to garner public support for crackdowns on unauthorized immigrants and non-citizens deemed security risks.

One meme showed security personnel wearing Santa hats and decorating their gear with lights, accompanied by the message: “YOU’RE-GOING HO HO HOME.” Another depicted President Donald Trump flying Santa’s sleigh, while a third featured the internet character “Gigachad” in festive attire reviewing the DHS “naughty list,” referring to individuals flagged for criminal histories or immigration violations.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the main investigative arm of the DHS, has played a central role in deportations since Trump returned to office. Mass deportation has been a hallmark of Trump’s campaign platform, but critics argue that the administration’s approach is harsh, illegal, and often targets individuals who pose little or no threat.

Some religious organizations have also criticized the policy as inconsistent with Christian principles of compassion. Conversely, supporters of stricter immigration enforcement contend that the administration prioritizes flashy publicity stunts, such as highlighting enforcement raids, over substantive and effective immigration policy measures.
