Sara Wilson

Sara Wilson is a PhD student in Communication at Simon Fraser University and a Senior Communications Associate with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. Her doctoral research examines how Indigenous languages can be meaningfully integrated into emergency alerts and crisis communications systems, drawing from case studies in Yellowknife, Nunavut, and Aotearoa New Zealand.
Before joining the NCTR, Sara worked in journalism and public service, including roles with the Government of British Columbia and the Northwest Territories, where she focused on bridging communication gaps between institutions and communities. She writes regularly on topics related to reconciliation, Indigenous language revitalization, and equity in public communication. Sara lives on Vancouver Island, where she is also a board member with AutismBC and the Vancouver Island Human Rights Coalition.
