Staněk Seals Qualifying Pole As Vice-Champion Battle Tightens Between Crawford And Fornaroli
(MENAFN- Mid-East Info) Abu Dhabi, UAE,December 2025: Invicta Racing's Roman Staněk clinched pole position in Qualifying and is set to start at the front of the grid on Saturday. Earlier in the day, Jak Crawford opened the final weekend of the Formula 2® season by moving ahead of newly crowned champion Leonardo Fornaroli to set the fastest time in Free Practice, finishing just ahead of PREMA Racing's Gabriele Minì and newly announced Racing Bulls Formula 1 driver Arvid Lindblad.
Crawford, who is locked in a tight fight for Vice-Champion, posted a 1:39.545, narrowly edging Minì by 0.085s after a late-session improvement in Free Practice. Minì had briefly held P1 with a 1:39.630, delivering one of his strongest FP outings of the year as he consistently ran in the top two throughout the session. While the battle for P2 remains wide open, Fornaroli, who finished seventh in Free Practice, secured P3 in qualifying after dedicating FP to setup work over pure performance. With no championship pressure, he is well-placed to move up the order in his final Feature Race of the season on Sunday. Meanwhile, Lindblad continued to show strong speed, qualifying P10 after having two early laps deleted for track limits but recovering strongly on his final run. Lindblad also took part in F1 Free Practice this weekend, marking a significant career milestone as he gains early exposure to F1 machinery during the season finale. Drivers return to the track on Saturday for the Sprint Race at 16:15 and Sunday's Feature Race at 13:15, which closes the 2025 Formula 2® season.
