Shannon Welbourn

Dr. Shannon Welbourn, EdD, is an Assistant Professor and the Technological Education Program Coordinator at Brock University's Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Studies. She holds a Doctor of Education degree with a concentration in Educational Technology and Leadership. Her doctoral research focused on aligning policy and procedures with the unique needs of Technological Education programs. Her academic interests include makerspaces, mentorship, equitable assessment, and trauma-informed practice, with a growing emphasis on supporting Technological Education students as they transition from industry to the classroom.
Dr. Welbourn is committed to advancing Technological Education through innovative curriculum development, instructional strategies, and student-centred learning. Her work explores how creative, hands-on learning environments can support STEM integration and the engineering design process within Technological Education. Alongside her dedication to teaching excellence, she has made meaningful contributions to service, research, and institutional governance. She has served on Brock University's Senate (three years), the Academic Review Board (two years), and the Student Appeals Board (two years, continuing as a BUFA Observer). These experiences have deepened her understanding of institutional processes and strengthened her ability to contribute to faculty and program development within collegial governance structures. As the program coordinator and faculty member specializing in Technological Education, she plays a key role in supporting initiatives that enhance the program while collaborating with colleagues to ensure continuous growth in teacher education.
