(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
CAIRO, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti official affirmed on Thursday that Kuwait has a strong and integrated child-protection system based on specialized institutions and fair legislation that ensures a safe environment guaranteeing children's stability and their physical and psychological well-being.
This came in a worksheet presented by Dr. Maha Al-Jarallah, psychological consultant at the Supreme Council for the Family, during the closing session of the High-Level Arab Conference on Child Labour and Social Protection Policies in Arab States, held under the umbrella of the Arab League.
Al-Jarallah outlined for the conference the historical development of social protection in Kuwait, as well as the legal framework and the main actors in the child-protection system.
She highlighted the Council's key role in supporting and protecting families and children through counselling services and shelter centres, helping ensure a safe environment and safeguarding their rights.
She emphasized that child protection holds a central place in modern social policies, stressing that children must come first among groups deserving care and social protection.
The High-Level Arab Conference on Child Labour and Social Protection Policies in Arab States began yesterday, Wednesday, with broad Arab participation, under the umbrella of the Arab League and in partnership with the Arab Labour Organization, AGFUND, and the Arab Council for Childhood and Development.
