Amazon launches new AI chip Trainium3

(MENAFN) Amazon Web Services (AWS) unveiled its latest artificial intelligence (AI) chip, Trainium3, on Tuesday, promising faster AI model training and reduced operational costs.

According to AWS, Trainium3 UltraServers deliver up to 4.4× more compute performance, 4× greater energy efficiency, and nearly 4× higher memory bandwidth than their Trainium2 predecessors, enabling accelerated AI development while lowering costs.

The company highlighted that Trainium3 incorporates advanced design innovations, optimized inter-chip connections, and enhanced memory systems that reduce bottlenecks in large AI models. It also achieves 40% improved energy efficiency compared to previous generations, a key factor for large-scale data center operations and environmental sustainability.

AWS confirmed that development is already underway for Trainium4, which will support Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion high-speed chip interconnect technology, further enhancing AI performance and scalability.
