Ukrainian Delegation Invited To U.S. In Coming Days To Continue Peace Talks, FM Sybiha Says

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was announced by Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha while speaking with journalists in Brussels, Ukrinform reports.

The foreign minister noted that following the talks in Moscow, there was a phone call between the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Rustem Umerov, and White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.

“Since this is a telephone contact, for security reasons it is difficult to imagine that the details of this meeting will be discussed... Representatives of the U.S. delegation said that, in their assessment, the talks in Moscow had a positive impact on the peace process and they invited the Ukrainian delegation to come to the United States in the near future to continue our discussions,” Sybiha said.

He added that consultations are currently underway between the head of the Ukrainian delegation and partners from the United Kingdom, Germany, and France to further coordinate efforts and assess the progress achieved.

“And we have indeed made progress in the peace process as a result of the meetings in Geneva and Miami, as the partners are now building on the 20-point document that was developed during the talks in Geneva. I would also like to confirm to you that the American delegation heard the Ukrainian delegation, and the document is being further developed. Yes, there are the most sensitive issues that are bracketed and left for the leaders to consider,” the minister said.

As reported by Ukrinform, White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner held a five-hour meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin on December 2.

On November 30, a meeting between the Ukrainian and U.S. delegations was held in the United States regarding a plan for establishing peace in Ukraine. Previous talks took place on November 23 in Geneva with the participation of European officials. The sides discussed the peace plan proposed by Washington and reaffirmed that any future agreement must fully respect Ukraine's sovereignty and ensure a durable and just peace.

President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of the constructive dialogue during the negotiations between the Ukrainian and U.S. delegations in Florida.
