Syrian Leader Discusses Ties with U.S. Congress Delegation

(MENAFN) Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa held talks on Tuesday with a US congressional delegation to explore ways of enhancing cooperation between Damascus and Washington.

The discussions, led by Congressman Darin LaHood, emphasized “the importance of continuing constructive communication between the two sides in a way that serves mutual interests and contributes to supporting regional stability,” according to a statement from the Syrian presidency.

The statement added that both sides “also exchanged views on a number of international issues of common interest.”

The US delegation’s visit comes after a string of high-level meetings between President Sharaa and American officials, including his November 10 meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
