Hong Kong housing estate blaze leaves four dead, three injured

(MENAFN) A severe fire tore through a residential complex in Hong Kong on Wednesday, leaving at least four people dead—including one firefighter—and injuring three others.

According to general reports, two of the injured remain in critical condition, while the third has been stabilized following treatment.

The blaze erupted in the Tai Po district and rapidly raced across bamboo scaffolding surrounding the estate, spreading to at least three residential blocks. The complex, known as Wang Fuk Court, consists of eight towers with more than 1,900 housing units.

Authorities escalated the fire alert to Level 4, the second-highest classification, as crews battled the flames. Several residents were also reported to be trapped during the incident.

Images and video shared online showed massive clouds of smoke rising above the neighborhood as firefighters attempted to contain the inferno and reach those still inside.

Rescue efforts remain ongoing as emergency teams continue responding at the scene.
