(MENAFN) A Russian Tu-160 strategic bomber conducted a standard flight over the neutral waters of the Arctic Ocean, as reported by the Ministry of Defense on Tuesday.

According to the statement, "Strategic bomber Tu-160 executed a scheduled flight in the airspace over neutral waters of the Arctic Ocean.

Flight duration exceeded 11 hours." The flight was part of routine operations carried out by the Russian Aerospace Forces.

The crews from Long Range Aviation regularly perform missions over various neutral waters, including those of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific Ocean, Black Sea, and Baltic Sea. These flights are an integral part of their routine operations.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that all such flights conducted by the Russian Aerospace Forces adhere to international airspace regulations.

It was further highlighted that the pilots of long-range aviation frequently fly over these international waters as part of their operational schedule.

The Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic missile carrier bombers are key elements of Russia's long-range aviation forces.

These bombers are part of the nation’s nuclear triad, which includes aircraft, submarines, and intercontinental ballistic missiles, forming the air component of Russia's strategic deterrence.
