Israeli army persist with home demolitions, attacks in Gaza amid truce

(MENAFN) The Israeli military has carried out home demolitions and artillery strikes in Gaza’s areas under its control, further violating the existing ceasefire, according to reports.

Witnesses said several residential buildings were destroyed in the Shujaiya neighborhood of Gaza City, located in the military-controlled yellow zone. In southern Gaza, residents reported that Israeli artillery hit eastern parts of Khan Younis, beyond the designated yellow line. No further details on the extent of property damage were immediately available.

Gaza Civil Defense reported that two Palestinians were killed and several others injured inside a house in the Al-Nasr neighborhood of Gaza City on Monday evening when an Israeli ordnance exploded.

Palestine’s UN envoy Riyad Mansour told the Security Council that the Israeli military has killed an average of two Palestinian children per day since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, with the total number of casualties rising to 1,000.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 342 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 900 injured by Israeli military actions since the ceasefire began. Since October 2023, the conflict has claimed the lives of nearly 70,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, and injured more than 170,900, leaving much of the enclave in ruins.
