Shell's Nxplorers Launches New Season With Teacher Training
Doha, Qatar: Shell has officially launched the 2025/2026 NXplorers programme with a three-day teacher training workshop at the Ministry of Education & Higher Education (MoEHE).
This marks the first milestone for the new NXplorers season, showcasing Shell's ongoing commitment to fostering innovation and skill-building among youth in Qatar.
Majdi Khair Al-Din, one of the participating teachers from the Institute of Religion Studies Preparatory and Secondary School, shared his experience:“NXplorers is more than a programme. It is a platform for empowering the next generation with the skills and mindset to tackle complex challenges.”
Diana Al-Wuraidat, a teacher at Maria Al Qibatiya Preparatory school, added:“The NXplorers training gives us practical tools to inspire students to think creatively and critically. It's exciting to be part of a programme that encourages young people to develop solutions for real-world challenges.”
Over the past six years, NXplorers has reached 2,800 students, trained 170 teachers, and engaged almost 60 schools, creating a strong foundation for expanding the programme's impact in the new academic cycle.
There are 20 schools who have confirmed participation for the new academic year, with 60 nominated teachers being trained. The workshop equips teachers with tools to guide students as they develop innovative project ideas throughout the year.
As part of a global programme delivered in more than 30 countries and reaching over 200,000 young people, NXplorers has consistently demonstrated strong performance.
A student team from the International School for Medical Science and Engineering won the Global Gold Award for their project Aqua Filter, which reduces CO2 emissions while generating usable water. The solution was praised for its environmental impact, scalability and relevance to Qatar's climate priorities.
Building on this success, several schools participating in this year's cycle have already been nominated for the upcoming 2024/2025 NXplorers Global Awards.
Al Hijji, General Manager of Corporate Relations at Qatar Shell, commented on the launch:“The NXplorers programme is an essential part of our strategy to attract more young people into STEM fields and support the future growth of Qatar's knowledge economy.”
The next phase of the NXplorers programme in Qatar will focus on preparing students and supporting school teams as they begin developing their project ideas.
