(MENAFN) As of early Monday, floods have impacted a total of 10,922 individuals across seven Malaysian states, with Kelantan enduring the heaviest toll from the calamity.
The northeastern state reported "8,248 victims from 3,022 families" this morning, marking a substantial rise from "7,830 victims the previous night," according to a state news organization.
Authorities have stated that the conditions in Kelantan remain dire, as persistent heavy rainfall continues to batter the region.
Other states are also grappling with escalating floodwaters.
In Perlis, the number of those affected surged significantly to "811 people from 243 families," compared to "114 people from 35 families the previous night."
Penang also experienced a rise in flood victims, reaching "242 people from 57 families," while Perak reported an increase as well.

In addition, Selangor has recently been hit by the floods, becoming the latest state to require urgent emergency response and relief measures.
