Former Minister Of Justice Galushchenko Appears For Questioning At NABU

“Galushchenko came in for questioning at the Bureau,” the agency's interlocutor said.

The former minister arrived for questioning, accompanied by his lawyers.

As reported, on November 10, NABU announced a special operation aimed at exposing corruption in the energy sector. The investigation revealed that members of a criminal organization had devised an elaborate scheme to influence strategic enterprises within the state sector, including Energoatom.

A well-informed law enforcement source reported that anti-corruption bureau officers conducted searche at the homes of businessman and co-owner of Studio Kvartal 95, Tymur Mindich, as well as at the home of Minister of Justice, German Galushchenko, who previously served as Minister of Energy.

On November 11, as part of an investigation into corruption in the energy sector, law enforcement officers detained five individuals and served notices of suspicion on seven others. Those notified of suspicion include a businessman described as the leader of the criminal organization, a former adviser to the Minister of Energy, the Executive Director for Physical Protection and Security at NNEGC Energoatom, as well as four individuals working in a back-office unit responsible for the legalization of funds.

According to the Schemes investigative project, those who received notices of suspicion in this case are: Tymur Mindich (“Karlson”), former adviser to the Minister of Energy Ihor Myroniuk (“Rocket”), Energoatom's Executive Director for Security Dmytro Basov (“Tenor”), Oleksandr Tsukerman (“Sugar Man”), Ihor Fursenko (“Roschyk”), Lesia Ustymenko, and Liudmyla Zorina.

Five individuals from the list of suspects have been detained. Two of them, Tymur Mindich and Oleksandr Tsukerman, have left Ukraine.

On November 19, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution dismissing German Galushchenko from the post of Minister of Justice of Ukraine. A total of 323 MPs voted in favor of the resolution.

The Cabinet of Ministers assigned the duties of minister to the Deputy Minister of Justice for European Integration, Liudmyla Suhak.

The Supervisory Board of NNEGC Energoatom announced that it would convene a special meeting to assess the situation and determine actions regarding the corruption allegations involving company employees.
