The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has conducted a series of operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, seizing more than 72 kilograms of narcotics in six raids carried out over the past 48 hours in Khyber and Peshawar districts.

According to sources, the operations were conducted in Ali Masjid, Bara and Jamrud areas of Khyber district, as well as different localities in Peshawar. The seized narcotics, including ice, heroin, charas and opium, had been expertly concealed in vehicle secret compartments and inside bundles of used clothing.

The ANF arrested five suspects during these actions, including a government employee, while five vehicles used for drug smuggling were also taken into custody. Officials said that an attempt to smuggle ice through an inter-city bus service cargo, hidden under household items, was also foiled.

Sources added that the ice and heroin, brought from Afghanistan, were being smuggled into other parts of the country through Tirah and Khyber routes. The timely operations prevented the narcotics from reaching their intended destinations.

ANF authorities said that anti-smuggling operations would continue across the province and more stringent steps would be taken against drug trafficking networks.
