Emergency Landing At BIA: Emirates A380 Diverts Due To Medical Emergency


(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) An Emirates Airbus A380, one of the world's largest commercial aircraft, executed an unscheduled landing at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake late yesterday evening (20).

The flight, EK-434, was traveling from Dubai to Brisbane, Australia, when it was forced to divert following a sudden medical emergency involving one of the passengers onboard.

Reports indicate the aircraft touched down at BIA at approximately 7:15 p.m. The ailing passenger was immediately disembarked and transported to a local hospital to receive necessary medical treatment.

After the situation was addressed, the large wide-body airliner resumed its journey, departing for its final destination in Brisbane at around 9:20 p.m.
