New Protest Trend In Khyber: Father Burns Daughter's Academic Certificates Over Alleged Merit Violations
A new form of protest is taking root in Khyber district, where residents have begun burning personal belongings to highlight allegations of bribery and merit violations in government institutions.
In the latest incident, Malik Nazeer Khan Madokhel set his daughter's academic certificates on fire outside the District Education Office (Female) in Jamrud, accusing education officials of ignoring merit in female teacher appointments.
The protest follows a similar episode on 2 November, when a player's father burned his son's sports kit after the boy was dropped from PCB trials, calling it a violation of merit.

KhanMalik Nazeer said his daughter fully meets the merit criteria, yet she has been repeatedly overlooked due to what he claimed were bribery-driven recruitments. He said he has personally funded her education for the last six months, but when a female teacher post fell vacant at their local school, officials' alleged slow response and unfair practices shattered their hopes.
He further alleged that DEO Samina Ghani had been transferred a year earlier but was reinstated to the same post after allegedly paying a large amount, which he termed a clear example of corruption.
Malik Nazeer urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to immediately transfer DEO Samina Ghani, order a transparent inquiry, and ensure justice for his daughter. He warned that he would intensify his protest if his demands were ignored.
