Doha, Qatar: The representation mission of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) in Sudan has initiated emergency humanitarian interventions in Al-Dabbah, Northern State, in response to a humanitarian appeal issued by Sudan's Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC) amid deteriorating conditions of approximately 95,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) evacuated from the conflict zones in North Darfur and Kordofan.

A delegation headed by Dr. Salah Daak, head of QRCS's office, visited Dongola and held a coordination meeting with the state's Ministry of Health (MOH).

Attended by MOH's Director-General Khalid Abdelghani Abdelkarim and other relevant officials, the meeting focused on health intervention priorities and bilateral coordination mechanisms.

MOH affirmed their commitment to working together with QRCS's medical teams. The Director-General praised Qatar's humanitarian support and emergency measures to reduce pressure on health services in the region.

QRCS announced the deployment of a mobile clinic to provide emergency medical services (EMS) and primary health care (PHC) at the Affat IDP Camp in Northern State.

Run 24/7 by doctors, nurses, and midwives displaced from Al-Fasher, the clinic coordinates with Al-Dabbah Hospital to receive the referred patients who require advanced medical care, under a referral system that links the clinic to government health facilities.

The purpose of the mobile clinic is to provide comprehensive health care services for some 95,000 IDPs, mostly women and children, including medical clinical, laboratory, pharmacy, and ambulatory services.

Regular visits are made by specialists to examine the patients and provide necessary medical consultations.

The location was chosen in a central area within the camp to ensure easy access.

The clinic provides medical examinations and medications, health education, and psychosocial support (PSS). MOH in Northern State welcomed this initiative and appreciated QRCS's humanitarian role and permanent willingness to support affected communities. The Ministry also reiterated its commitment to collaboration to strengthen the health response within the camp.
