Palestine Applauds UN Security Council Resolution
(MENAFN) Palestine expressed its approval on Tuesday following the UN Security Council's adoption on Monday of a US-proposed resolution authorizing the creation of a Board of Peace and an International Stabilization Force in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement posted on US social media platform X, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry described the resolution as a recognition of “the establishment of a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance, and the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state.”
The statement also conveyed gratitude to “all countries that expressed their willingness to work with the State of Palestine and the relevant parties to support Palestinian efforts toward ending the occupation and achieving freedom and independence.”
Palestine reaffirmed its willingness to collaborate with all pertinent actors, including the US, members of the UN Security Council, and Arab and Islamic nations, to facilitate the implementation of the resolution.
It further urged immediate measures to enforce the resolution to alleviate the hardships of Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
The UN Security Council approved the US-drafted resolution on Monday, which calls for the establishment of the Board of Peace and authorizes the International Stabilization Force to oversee governance, reconstruction, and security initiatives in the Gaza Strip.
The US proposal was introduced as part of a broader Israel-Hamas ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement that commenced in Gaza on Oct. 10, following a 20-point plan presented by President Donald Trump.
