Greco-Roman Wrestlers To Compete At Islamic Solidarity Games
Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman wrestlers begin their contests today at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Azernews reports.
The first athletes to enter the arena will be Nihat Mammadli (60 kg), Hasrat Cafarov (67 kg), Ulvi Qanizade (77 kg), and Islam Abbasov (87 kg).
In 3x3 basketball, Azerbaijan's team is set to play its third group-stage match against Ivory Coast.
Para-athlete Samir Nabiyev (F57) will compete in the discus throw, while Nazim Babayev and Rustam Mammadov will appear in the triple jump. Lamiya Valiyeva will race in the 100 meters, Alham Nagiyev in the 200 meters, and Ismayil Aliyev will participate in the shot put.
In epee fencing, Aynur Quliyeva and Nazrin Mehdiyeva will be representing Azerbaijan.
The 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games will run until November 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking the sixth edition of this multi-sport event for athletes from countries that are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Azerbaijan is currently 9th in the medal standings with 45 medals in total: 5 gold, 14 silver, and 26 bronze.
