ISRO Plans Major Ambitious Space Missions by 2035

(MENAFN) The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) intends to triple its yearly spacecraft output over the next three years, according to its chairman. New Delhi is preparing for seven additional launches in the ongoing financial year, ISRO Chairman V Narayanan informed a news agency during an interview on Sunday.

India is pursuing a strategy to rapidly enhance its scientific, technological, and industrial capabilities within the space sector. ISRO’s goal is to elevate the global share of the nation’s space industry from the current 2% to 8% by 2030. The industry, presently valued at $8.2 billion, is expected to reach $44 billion by 2033.

Among the upcoming launches is a commercial communication satellite. Narayanan highlighted that ISRO is aiming to achieve a notable milestone with a satellite launch vehicle built entirely within India.

The government has also given the green light for the Chandrayaan-4 lunar mission, scheduled for 2028. This venture will be India’s most intricate yet, seeking to return samples from the moon—a capability currently limited to the US, Russia, and China.

ISRO also plans to finalize its own space station by 2035. The initial of the five planned modules is expected to be launched into orbit by 2028, Narayanan stated.

This initiative comes as the US-led International Space Station (ISS) approaches the end of its operational life, while China’s Tiangong station moves into full functionality.

Narayanan clarified that only the timeline for the uncrewed spaceflight mission has been revised. “Let me make it clear: the uncrewed mission was targeted for 2025. The crewed mission was always planned for 2027, and we are holding on to that date,” he affirmed.
