Türkiye's Jobless Rate Remains Steady at 8.5 Percent in Q3
(MENAFN) Türkiye's jobless rate remained unchanged during the year's third quarter at 8.5%, according to data released Tuesday by the nation's statistical authority TurkStat.
The count of unemployed individuals aged 15 and above fell by 26,000 to reach 3.01 million.
The unemployment figure registered at 7% for men and 11.2% for women during the July-September timeframe.
Employment figures climbed in the third quarter, with 65,000 additional workers entering the workforce, elevating the total employed population to 32.56 million.
The aggregate employment rate advanced to 49%, comprising 66.2% for men and 32.1% for women across the same three-month span.
The workforce expanded by 39,000 to 35.57 million, with the participation rate reaching 53.5%.
Youth joblessness—encompassing individuals aged 15 to 24—declined by 0.5 percentage points to 15.3% in the third quarter versus the preceding quarter. The rate measured 11.7% for men and 21.8% for women.
Examining sectoral employment patterns, agricultural sector staffing increased by 13,000, construction added 40,000 workers, and services absorbed 159,000 additional employees. Conversely, industrial employment contracted by 147,000.
Agriculture accounted for 14% of workers, industry employed 19.8%, construction represented 7%, and services commanded 59.3% during the July-September interval.
