Trump Praises UN Approval of Gaza Peace Initiative
(MENAFN) President Donald Trump on Monday celebrated the UN Security Council’s adoption of a resolution, drafted by the United States, that authorizes the creation of a Board of Peace and an International Stabilization Force (ISF) in the Gaza Strip.
"Congratulations to the World on the incredible Vote of the United Nations Security Council, just moments ago, acknowledging and endorsing the board of peace, which will be chaired by me, and include the most powerful and respected Leaders throughout the World," Trump posted on his Truth Social platform.
His statement came shortly after the resolution was approved with 13 votes in favor, while Russia and China chose to abstain.
"This will go down as one of the biggest approvals in the History of the United Nations, will lead to further Peace all over the World, and is a moment of true Historic proportion!" he remarked.
Trump extended his gratitude to the UN and the 15-member Council, while also commending countries that strongly supported the initiative, including Qatar, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Türkiye, and Jordan.
"The members of the Board, and many more exciting announcements, will be made in the coming weeks," he noted.
Last month, Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas agreed to the initial phase of Trump’s 20-point Gaza plan — a ceasefire aimed at halting the two-year conflict and an arrangement for the release of hostages.
