Trump Lauds UN Security Council Approval of U.S.-Led Gaza Resolution
(MENAFN) President Donald Trump celebrated Monday after the UN Security Council greenlit a US-authored resolution establishing a Board of Peace and an International Stabilization Force (ISF) to operate in the Gaza Strip.
"Congratulations to the World on the incredible Vote of the United Nations Security Council, just moments ago, acknowledging and endorsing the board of peace, which will be chaired by me, and include the most powerful and respected Leaders throughout the World," Trump declared via his Truth Social platform.
The announcement followed the resolution's passage with 13 affirmative votes, while Russia and China chose to abstain from the decision.
"This will go down as one of the biggest approvals in the History of the United Nations, will lead to further Peace all over the World, and is a moment of true Historic proportion!" he stated.
Trump extended gratitude to the UN and the 15-member Council while specifically recognizing nations that provided robust support for the initiative, naming Qatar, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Türkiye and Jordan.
"The members of the Board, and many more exciting announcements, will be made in the coming weeks," he added.
Last month, Israel and the Palestinian militant organization Hamas both accepted the opening phase of Trump's 20-point Gaza plan—a ceasefire designed to end the two-year conflict and a framework ensuring hostage releases.
The resolution specifies that the Board of Peace and International Stabilization Force's "presences authorized by this resolution shall remain authorized until Dec. 31, 2027, subject to further action by the Council, and (that) any further reauthorization of the ISF be in full cooperation and coordination with Egypt and Israel and other Member States continuing to work with the ISF."
