MAGA ally issues former apology for partaking in “toxic politics”
(MENAFN) US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has issued an apology for what she described as her involvement in “toxic politics,” doing so as tensions between her and US President Donald Trump continue to intensify.
The Georgia representative — long associated with fiery rhetoric and hardline conservative positions — has recently taken a more confrontational stance toward Trump, despite previously defending him with unwavering loyalty. According to reports, the president publicly accused her of shifting toward the “far left” and labeled her a “traitor.”
Speaking in an interview aired on Sunday, Greene acknowledged that Trump’s comments were “hurtful,” but insisted she wants to help “end the fighting in politics.” She stressed that the accusation of being a traitor was especially damaging, saying it could “radicalize people” and endanger her life.
Greene went on to offer a public apology, stating: “I would like to say, humbly, I’m sorry for taking part in the toxic politics. It’s very bad for our country,” and noted that recent acts of political violence, including the killing of conservative activist and podcaster Charlie Kirk, pushed her to “put down the knives in politics.”
She also vowed to continue pressing for the release of all remaining unredacted documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump, meanwhile, has urged fellow Republicans to avoid contributing to what he calls “the Epstein hoax,” claiming political rivals aim to damage his presidency through it.
Greene has additionally voiced opposition to US support for Israel and Ukraine and has suggested that Epstein could have been acting on behalf of Israeli intelligence.
