(MENAFN) According to reports, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan highlighted the critical role of US support in ensuring order, prosperity, and stability in Syria during a live broadcast on A Haber.

Fidan referenced Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s September meeting with US President Donald Trump, noting that the discussions covered key issues affecting bilateral relations and regional dynamics. He added that Türkiye’s recent “foreign policy performance” and proven reliability as a partner have positioned it as “a sought-after actor for cooperation on many issues.”

He stressed that the talks in Washington addressed matters of significant importance for both countries, the broader region, and global peace. Fidan underscored that maintaining shared understanding and close coordination is essential for protecting and advancing Türkiye’s national interests, with conversations focusing on Syria, Palestine, and Ukraine.

Regarding Türkiye’s actions in Syria, he pointed out efforts ranging from regional stabilization and facilitating refugee returns to supporting the new administration’s pursuit of international legitimacy, describing these initiatives as “rarely seen in history.” He added that countries observing developments recognize the moral and dignified approach of Türkiye’s policy.

Fidan emphasized that Türkiye aims to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity and the welfare of its people while collaborating with neighboring countries—an approach he described as characteristic of nations with a “deep strategic culture.” He noted that Türkiye’s presence in Syria is natural, as addressing the country’s challenges benefits not only Türkiye but the region as a whole.

He concluded by highlighting a key feature of Türkiye’s foreign policy: it does not act solely for national gain but seeks to promote shared regional interests.
