Most Regions Receive Good Amounts Of Rainfall - JMD
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, Nov. 14 (Petra)-- Mou'men Al-Hawari Acting Director of the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), Abdel-Monem Al-Qarala, said that rainfall amounts so far have been good, covering most western regions of the Kingdom. The highest recorded precipitation was in Ajloun at 23.7 mm, followed by Irbid at 14.8 mm.
Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Al-Qarala noted that rainfall expected tonight and tomorrow will be heavy at times and may be accompanied by thunderstorms and brief hail showers.
He pointed to the likelihood of flash floods forming in valleys and low-lying areas across most regions of the Kingdom, particularly in the northern and central regions, along with moderate to brisk northwesterly winds.
Al-Qarala warned of reduced horizontal visibility in many areas due to rain, fog, and low-lying clouds.
He added that radar images from the Meteorological Department show rainfall across most governorates, especially in Amman, Ajloun, Irbid, the northern and central Jordan Valley, Jerash, and areas east of the Dead Sea.
The Meteorological Department renewed its warnings of potential flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea region, as well as reduced visibility due to fog over highlands and parts of the plains. Visibility may also decline due to dust, particularly in desert areas.
