Upcycled Jewelry Workshop: Craft, Connect, And Create With Conscious Design In Venice, CA

(MENAFN- Market Press Release) November 14, 2025 1:14 am - Join Circular Library and Artful Moments for a hands-on metalsmithing experience - transform reclaimed metals into wearable art.

Venice, CA – On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Circular Library invites jewelry enthusiasts, creative explorers, and sustainability advocates to an evening of mindful making at the Upcycled Jewelry Workshop, presented in collaboration with Artful Moments. This immersive session offers a unique opportunity to blend craftsmanship and sustainability - teaching participants how to create custom-fit rings from upcycled artisan wire using traditional metalsmithing techniques.

This 2.5-hour hands-on workshop, led by artist and metalsmith Tracey Nelsen, bridges the artistry of jewelry design with the principles of environmental consciousness. Participants will discover the magic of metalsmithing - learning how to cut, shape, and solder with precision while creating one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces that reflect both style and sustainability.

Sustainability Meets Craftsmanship

The Upcycled Jewelry Workshop celebrates the art of transformation - turning reclaimed materials into something new, personal, and enduring. Much like Circular Library's mission to promote circular design and creative reuse, this event invites participants to rethink what“precious” truly means. Instead of mining new metals, attendees will work with recycled silver, brass, and gold wire, giving discarded materials a second life through art.

The workshop also emphasizes the mindfulness of the making process. As participants focus on heating, shaping, and finishing their pieces, they experience the meditative rhythm of working with their hands - a rare pause in the fast pace of modern life. The result? A beautiful piece of jewelry that carries both creative intention and ecological meaning.

A Guided Experience for All Skill Levels

Led by Tracey Nelsen, this workshop offers step-by-step instruction in traditional metalsmithing, making it accessible for complete beginners and enriching for experienced makers. Participants will learn to:

Design and measure custom-fit rings

Use tools such as a butane torch, ring mandrel, and soldering kits

Safely solder and shape metal

Polish and finish their handmade jewelry

All necessary tools and materials will be provided, with optional soldering kits available for purchase for those who want to continue crafting at home. Each attendee will leave with not only a handmade ring, but also new skills and a renewed appreciation for craftsmanship and sustainability.

Her art has been exhibited in Minnesota, New York City, and the Bay Area, and she has contributed to large-scale installations, including Pulse with the Flaming Lotus Girls at Burning Man.
