Ukraine Continues Talks With US On Tomahawk Missiles Stefanishyna

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) She said this in an interview with Balance of Power on Bloomberg TV, Ukrinform reports.

"The discussion is still ongoing but we have a lot of delegations working to scale up the available financial resources to procure more military capabilities from the US," Stefanishyna said.

According to her, the talks cover not only Tomahawks but different types of other long-range and short-range missiles. "I can only say that it's rather positive," the diplomat added.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's latest push is for Tomahawks and other long-range missiles that would allow it to hit targets deep within Russian territory. But U.S. President Donald Trump has said Tomahawks can only be effective if the US fires them, and it is not going to do so.

Asked about repeated Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure in recent weeks, Stefanishyna said "it's definitely a very tough period for Ukraine."

"We're working hard to provide more air-defense capabilities to Ukraine," she said.

She said any refusal to put pressure on Russia will be seen as "something that gives them the green light to scale up their capabilities."

Zelensky said earlier that the recent phone call between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump was prompted by Trump's remarks about the possible transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.

On October 31, the Pentagon gave the "green light" for the potential transfer of Tomahawk long-range missiles to Ukraine, noting that it would not negatively affect U.S. stockpiles. However, the final decision rests with Trump.

On November 3, Trump said he was not considering the transfer of Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine.
