Turkish airlines, GE Aerospace sign deal to work on Boeing fleet
(MENAFN) Türkiye’s national carrier has finalized an agreement with GE Aerospace to supply engines and related components for its upcoming fleet of Boeing aircraft, according to recent reports. The deal follows a major aircraft purchase plan announced earlier this year.
"In line with the growth objectives set out in our Strategic Plan, which aims to generate significant value for all stakeholders, our Board of Directors had decided to purchase a total of 75 aircraft from Boeing, consisting of 50 firm and 25 option orders for B787-9 and B787-10 models with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2034," Turkish Airlines stated on Türkiye’s Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).
The airline explained that after holding a tender process to select providers for engines, spare parts, and maintenance services for its new Boeing aircraft, GE Aerospace was chosen as the partner. Negotiations have been completed, and both sides have officially signed the agreement.
Earlier, the carrier revealed plans to purchase a total of 225 Boeing aircraft — including 75 wide-body jets from the B787-9 and B787-10 series, and 150 single-aisle models from the 737-8 and 737-10 MAX family.
At that time, Turkish Airlines also noted that discussions were taking place with both Rolls-Royce and GE Aerospace regarding potential engine supply and maintenance partnerships for the upcoming Boeing fleet.
