Afghan, Qatari Officials Discuss Strengthening Cultural Ties
KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan and Qatari officials have discussed ways to enhance academic and educational cooperation, organise exhibitions and scientific and artistic events and develop cultural ties between Kabul and Doha.
Afghanistan's cultural attaché in Turkey Qari Hamidullah Tamkin met with Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Alhaj Al-Hammadi, First Secretary of the Qatari Embassy in Ankara, the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) said.
A statement from the ministry said the meeting focused on various cultural topics, including strengthening academic and educational cooperation, exchanging cultural delegations, organising exhibitions and scientific and artistic events, and expanding links between cultural institutions in both countries.
Al-Hammadi said ties between Kabul and Doha were based on shared Islamic values and deep historical and cultural relations.
He added that the Qatari government would continue to support the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) and was ready to enhance cultural, academic and educational cooperation, noting that strengthening cultural relations among Islamic countries was a key priority of Qatar's foreign policy.
For his part, Qari Hamidullah Tamkin expressed appreciation for Qatar's valuable and comprehensive support and acknowledged the country's constructive role in humanitarian, educational, and cultural fields.
He emphasised that IEA welcomes the expansion of academic and cultural relations with Islamic countries, particularly with brotherly Qatar.
Both sides stressed the continuation of such meetings and the exchange of views to strengthen cultural ties and mutual understanding between the peoples of Afghanistan and Qatar.
