Security tensions escalated in Bannu as an explosion caused by planted explosives severely damaged a Basic Health Unit (BHU) in the jurisdiction of Baka Khel Police Station on Thursday. According to police, unidentified militants had placed explosive material inside the BHU, which detonated with a loud blast, damaging the building.

Police confirmed the incident and said that a search operation had been launched to track down the perpetrators. Following the blast, security forces cordoned off the entire area, and evidence collection was immediately initiated.

Meanwhile, in the limits of Baka Khel and Cantt police stations, including Dawood Shah, Masoom Abad, Khadri Mamandkhel and Mamand Khel, security forces and police launched a joint operation against militants. Sources said the operation was carried out after reports about the presence of terrorists in the area. The entire region was encircled, and a house-to-house search was in progress.

Police officials stated that militants in the Dawood Shah area had been intermittently setting up illegal checkpoints and frisking passers-by.

During the same period, the body of a young man was recovered from Peepal Dawood Shah in the Cantt Police Station limits. The deceased was shifted to DHQ Hospital Bannu. Police later identified him as Khizar, son of Noor Gul, a resident of Mamand Khel, who, according to officials, had been abducted by unidentified armed men two days earlier.
