Tesla Germany Sales See Over 53 Percent Drop in October

(MENAFN) Tesla's German market presence has suffered a devastating blow, with October deliveries collapsing 53.5% compared to the previous year, according to Wednesday's official figures from the country's Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA).

The American electric vehicle manufacturer moved just 750 units last month across Germany—a stark decline from the 1,607 vehicles delivered during October 2024, KBA statistics reveal.

The downturn marks a broader pattern of struggle for Elon Musk's automotive empire in Europe's largest economy. Year-to-date figures paint an equally troubling picture: Tesla has registered only 15,595 battery electric vehicles through October, representing a catastrophic 50% contraction versus the comparable 2024 timeframe.

This collapse unfolds even as Germany's overall EV market surges. The nation recorded 434,627 new battery electric vehicle registrations year-to-date—a robust 40% jump from last year's corresponding period, KBA data shows.

Tesla operates a major manufacturing plant in Brandenburg, just outside Berlin, yet the company's reputation has deteriorated significantly in recent months. Musk's political positioning and active involvement in European policy debates have triggered widespread disapproval among the continent's consumers.

Beyond political turbulence, intensifying pressure from Chinese automotive manufacturers has compounded Tesla's German woes. BYD, a principal rival, experienced explosive growth with October sales rocketing 866.3% year-over-year to reach 3,353 units, KBA records confirm.
