Visually Impaired Political Prisoner Sizikov Held In Simferopol Detention Center No. 1, Being Prepared For Transfer

“Oleksandr Sizikov is now in Detention Center No. 1 in Simferopol. The information has been confirmed,” the lawyer said.

According to Kurbedinov, the political prisoner is being prepared for transfer.

“They are preparing him for transfer. To serve time. They are executing the decision of the 'court,' which overturned his release due to illness and ruled that he must serve his sentence,” he added.

As reported, Sizikov was detained on July 7, 2020, during mass raids in Crimea along with six other individuals. All detainees were accused of involvement in the Islamic political party Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is designated as a terrorist organization in Russia.

In May 2023, Muslim Sizikov was sentenced to 17 years in prison, with the first four years to be served in a high-security prison. On September 13, 2024, the Russian Military Court of Appeal upheld the verdict against the Crimean resident.

In May 2025, a court in Russia's Krasnoyarsk region ordered Sizikov's release.

However, on October 21, the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court overturned the decision to release the visually impaired prisoner and ruled to return him to prison.

During the night of October 23, police officers conducted a search and detained Sizikov. During the search, they seized two laptops and all the family members' phones. After that, Sizikov was taken away to an undisclosed location.

The next day, the Bakhchysarai District Court of Crimea sentenced Sizikov to 10 days of arrest under the article on disobedience to the police (Part 1, Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).

Sizikov completely lost his vision after a car accident in 2009 and has a Group I disability. He also suffers from chronic stomach and spine diseases.

As reported by Ukrinform, the so-called occupation court in Crimea overturned the decision of the Bakhchysarai District Court to arrest the visually impaired Muslim Oleksandr Sizikov.
