A miracle of sorts and a testament to administrative resolve, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, through his decisive leadership, has turned despair into hope for hundreds of young girls in Lakki Marwat.

The long-shuttered Government Girls High School Dallo Khel, once echoing with laughter and ambition, has reopened after eight years of haunting silence.

The classrooms, once derelict, with broken windows, cracked walls, and dust-covered blackboards, are now filled once again with life and promise. The reopening has brought smiles to the faces of parents and children alike, marking a triumph for education, governance, and community spirit.

As one resident put it,“The Chief Secretary and the Commissioner Bannu didn't just reopen a school - they reopened our daughters' dreams.”

For eight years, not a single class had been held. The dreams of 281 girls were locked away when a personal dispute between a former school employee and the administration escalated into a community tragedy.

The school's reopening has reignited hope for 281 girls whose education was halted. In a district struggling with a shortage of girls' schools, this milestone promises to reduce dropout rates and restore confidence in the local education system.

“My daughter cried every morning when she saw other children going to school,” said a father from Dallo Khel.“She used to ask, 'Dad, what did we do wrong?'”

As the years passed, the school building deteriorated, furniture broke, and weeds filled the courtyard. The girls were shifted to an overcrowded middle school, leaving many with no access to proper education.

Fortune changed when the issue - stemming from a dismissed Naib Qasid's defiance - reached Bannu Commissioner Khalid Mehmood and Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah. Their direct intervention rekindled the light of education in Dallo Khel.

Acting on the Chief Secretary's directives, Commissioner Bannu mobilised the District Administration and Education Department to reopen and restore the school.

Deputy Commissioner Hameedullah Khan, known for his crisis management experience, personally led the initiative. Visiting the site with local elders, he unlocked the gates that had remained sealed for nearly a decade. Inside stood a crumbling structure - yet that moment reignited a community's lost hope.

District Police Officer (DPO) Nazir Khan, PSP, ensured a peaceful environment and full support during rehabilitation, maintaining strict security at the site to facilitate restoration efforts.

The Deputy Commissioner immediately ordered the school's rehabilitation within one week. A fund of Rs. 6 lakh was allocated for repairs, and District Levies were deployed to maintain order and prevent any further obstruction.

Renovation work began promptly with full community support. During the reopening, GGHS Dallo Khel presented a transformed look - freshly whitewashed walls, cleaned washrooms, repaired furniture, repainted blackboards, restored utilities, and a secured boundary wall.

“The district administration's performance is exemplary,” said a local elder.“They didn't just fix walls; they rebuilt our faith in governance.”

Unlike cosmetic efforts of the past, Lakki Marwat is witnessing meaningful transformation under its current administration. The district, once burdened by neglect, now stands as a model for effective governance and educational revival.
