(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Ministry of Municipality, represented by several municipalities and the Public Cleanliness Department, organised a variety of awareness and agricultural activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and fostering a culture of sustainability as part of Qatar Sustainability Week (QSW), under the theme 'For a Sustainable Future'.
Doha Municipality, in co-operation with the Public Cleanliness Department, organised an awareness lecture titled“The Benefits of Home Gardening and the Waste Sorting at Source Programme”, in partnership with the Qatar Social Work Foundation and Elite Recycling Company.
Salem Abdullah al-Ahwal, head of the Parks and Gardens Section at Doha Municipality, stressed the importance of spreading environmental and social awareness and encouraging eco-friendly practices at home.
Hamad al-Tamimi, head of the Awareness and Education Section at the Public Cleanliness Department, noted that QSW reflects the commitment of Qatar and the Ministry of Municipality to adopt sustainable practices and maintain a clean environment for future generations.
Al Wakra Municipality participated in a beach cleanup campaign at Al Wakra Public Beach, in co-operation with University of Doha for Science and Technology and the Friends of the Environment Center, with the participation of volunteers and students.
Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality, in co-operation with the Youth Committee at Al Khor Sports Club, organised an agricultural workshop for students of Abdullah bin Ali Al-Misnad Preparatory School for Boys. The workshop covered planting techniques, plant care, and the importance of conserving natural resources, along with interactive activities designed to enhance environmental awareness in a hands-on way.
Umm Salal Municipality also held an educational and agricultural workshop for students of Rosy Land Nursery.
