Srinagar- Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that the Narendra Modi-led government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism, asserting that strong retaliatory measures have replaced the soft approach of previous governments.

Addressing election rallies in Bihar's Sheohar and Sitamarhi districts, Shah said that under earlier regimes, particularly the Congress, Pakistani terrorists frequently infiltrated into India without facing any decisive response.“It was the Congress government that allowed decades of violence in Jammu and Kashmir. The Modi government has hit back at terrorism with full force,” he said.

Taking a jibe at the opposition, Shah remarked,“Earlier, militants were served biryani, but now, under Modi ji, they are given bullets.”

He said that after the terror attacks in Uri and Pulwama, the government conducted surgical and air strikes, respectively, to send a strong message across the border.“When Pahalgam was attacked, within ten days, we entered Pakistan and eliminated the terrorists through Operation Sindoor,” Shah said, adding,“If bullets are fired from there, the answer will be with shells from here.”

The Home Minister said that over the past eleven years, the Modi government has dismantled terrorist networks and ensured national security.“During Congress rule, terror strikes were routine, but now, terrorists are neutralised on their own soil,” he said.
